Our Curriculum
Trident Academy's curriculum maximizes the strengths of our students while remediating their weaknesses so they are ready to succeed in college and ultimately in their chosen career. Teachers at Trident Academy help students to channel their strong creative abilities into innovative solutions and the capability to think outside the box. These are skills that are essential for success in the 21st century. Completion of the Trident Academy program prepares our students for success in college.
Our Multi-sensory Approach
Trident Academy uses a multi-sensory approach that is appropriate for all students and recognized as a best practice educationally. Each student is prescribed an individual plan that guides not just their learning, but also their social skills and peer relationships. Trident Academy is one of just eight schools in the nation accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators to teach this structured, sequential, multi-sensory, phonics-based approach developed for students with learning disabilities. It is also the only school in the Charleston region with the LEAD program, a tutorial program that provides unique, daily, individualized instruction for every student in every grade.
