Glenn Haddox, Parent of Upper School Student

“Trident Academy was a true blessing both inside and outside the classroom.  The teachers and staff were so willing to work with me and help me academically, it was truly a great experience. I remember many times when I wanted to get back to my home in Tennessee,  the staff pushed me academically and helped me achieve the success I needed to move back home. That was a defining moment for a 15-year-old – I learned that if Edwin wants to do it, he can do anything when he tries. I recently visited the school after 25 years and it was eye opening to see some of the same staff and the same passion in the eyes of the teachers.  It actually was such a great feeling seeing the children at Trident Academy with that same eagerness to learn as I had. Since I was not from the area I was assigned a boarding home where the family made the separation from my family a easy transition. To this day the Ferencz family holds a special place in my heart and my family’s heart.  Many life lessons were learned while at Trident Academy and many of my personal values were strengthened there as well. Trident Academy offers children the opportunity to grow and develop their educational needs at the speed and learning style that suites them the best. The school sets children up to succeed – not struggle.  Someone at Trident Academy told me I didn’t have a learning disability, I had a learning difference.  Without them I would not be the person I am today.”

“I wanted to thank the wonderful staff at Trident Academy for all the hard work you do. Our son’s academic therapy provider was instrumental in building the character and confidence my son now has. I am happy to report that he is getting mostly A’s and B’s with the occasional “slip-up.” After spending a great deal of time, resources and money before he came to you – you were able to clearly identify his needs and learning “stumbling blocks.”

Through collaboration with the academic therapy provider, my son was able to excel in such a short time. It is obvious to my wife and I what a great job you all have done with him. I know that the children of the Lowcountry have such a great resource and school – Trident Academy!”

“Testing through Trident Academy’s OutReach Program proved to be a life-changing experience for our daughter. For years, this honors student struggled with spelling and other areas of reading and writing. However, her hard work and high achievements kept even her teachers from recognizing the truth. During her senior year in high school, we decided that it was time to dig deeper.

The testing she received through the OutReach Program provided solid proof of what we long suspected: learning/language disorders. Trident’s documentation and communication helped her qualify for needed accommodations as she headed toward college. In addition, affirmations throughout the process affirmed her as an individual and validated her worth. Thank you, Trident Academy. for thinking outside the box-and reaching outside the school.”

My husband and I are “new” parents here at Trident, having relocated from Chicago this past summer. Our daughter, as a freshman, struggled at her large school in Chicago (4,500 students). She fell through the cracks of the public school system with a documented disability that no one seemed to understand, let alone deal with. Her problems began in eighth grade as the competitive curriculum began to be so difficult that she just gave up. We tried after school resources and outside tutoring, however nothing seemed to facilitate a turn-around in her grades and her attitude. At school, she received no help, no guidance, no understanding and no hope. After failing miserably, her self esteem was almost beyond repair. We decided to take her out of school and bring her down to Charleston.

We were so lucky to find Trident Academy’s web site and meet the staff, who we swore were the nicest people on the planet! After our daughters first semester, she has made honor roll, she’s participating in student council, basketball, golf, along with being invited to partake in a youth leadership conference in Washington D.C. in the summer.

Trident Academy and the instructors have changed her life! Her confidence and self esteem have skyrocketed; she actually cares about her grades. It’s a true miracle! What other school cares this much? Trident Academy has saved our daughter and I’m sure the faculty and staff has had a major impact on every child entrusted to them. After all, what’s more important than the health and welfare of our children?

My husband and I commend Trident Academy and we will be forever grateful for what they have achieved with our daughter and our family.
