Trident Academy is a hub of learning all year long. Students, parents, and educators can continue their education during the summer by enrolling in one of our many programs:
Summer Enrichment provides a short, intensive remediation program for students with language-based learning differences in a small group setting. Classes are designed to remediate deficiencies, as well as provide further development in reading, comprehension, written expression, spelling and vocabulary, and math using multisensory techniques. Click here for more information about Summer Enrichment 2017. For any additional questions, please contact Elizabeth Alexander.
In Academic Therapy, Trident Academy teachers trained in Orton-Gillingham focus on the individual needs of a student in 1:1 tutorial sessions. Reading, writing, and math are taught with multi-sensory, structured, and sequential approaches. Academic Therapists design an evolving diagnostic and prescriptive program for each student providing progress reports for parents. All ages and grades are invited to enroll. Orton-Gillingham Summer Institutes
Orton-Gillingham is widely held as the premier approach to educational intervention for individuals with dyslexia. Taught by Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators Fellows, the Orton-Gillingham training provides teachers and parents with the knowledge and strategies to address the needs of students who struggle with our written language. Trident Academy’s instructional program is one of 13 in our country accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. It is also an Accredited Training Program at both the Associate and Certified Levels. Orton-Gillingham has been the backbone of Trident Academy’s approach to educating students with language-based learning differences for over 40 years.
In an effort to help more students, The Center for Learning Differences Education at Trident Academy will host two Orton-Gillingham Training Courses this summer:
Certified Level Training — 30 hrs. of coursework — June 5-8, 8:30am-4:30pm
Associate Level Training — 70 hrs. of coursework — July 17-28, 8:30am-4:30pm

Multi-sensory Math Training Course
Based on the Orton-Gillingham philosophy of teaching, Multi-sensory Mathematics I applies the research-based Concrete-Representation-Abstract (CRA) approach to teaching mathematics as advocated by the National Math Panel and the NCTM. Participants learn to apply this methodology in guiding students from foundation skills and numeracy to place value, operations, fractions and decimals. Participants learn to use manipulatives effectively to reinforce concepts, aid memory and enhance performance for all students.
