Tuition alone does not cover the full cost of our students’ education, so we rely on the generosity of donors like you to close the gap and ensure that our students continue to receive the best education possible. Trident Academy benefits greatly from our supporters.  Unlike most schools, Trident Academy is not a school of choice, but a school of necessity.  For families whose bright children have a diagnosed learning difference, the challenge of acquiring an appropriate education is enormous.  Trident Academy is one of only 10 schools in the United States accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Our diagnostic, prescriptive, structured, sequential and multi-sensory approach is essential to the development and success of our student population. Participants are encouraged to give at whatever level they can. Each year, we strive to attain 100% participation from our Board of Trustees, faculty, parents, and grandparents. We are excited about increased participation from our alumni. Every gift, no matter what the amount, is appreciated. The giving levels are as follows:

The General Fund

Trident Academy uses these unrestricted gifts to help fund immediate needs across the school’s range of programs.  These donations provide vital support where the need is greatest and go directly to the heart of the school’s mission.

Maintain our Small Class Size

With a 1:4 teacher to student ratio, the faculty works to accentuate the uniqueness of each student’s learning difference and bring out his or her talents while also addressing their learning challenges.

Financial Aid

We strive to make Trident Academy’s multi-sensory education available to all students regardless of their families’ ability to pay.  Join us in aiding this crucial program.

Capital Improvements

Day to day maintenance needs are crucial to maintaining a safe learning environment. Among the future capital needs of Trident Academy are roof replacement and a new gymnasium floor.

Teacher Training

As an expert in the field of Orton-Gillingham instruction, Trident Academy is committed to fulfilling the academic needs of students with learning differences.  Through our 60 hour Associate Level Orton-Gillingham training program conducted each summer as well as seminars and workshops held throughout the year, Trident Academy not only focuses on the education of our staff, but reaches out to the wider community providing training to the professionals in our community and across the country. Our Director of LEAD and Outreach, Sheila Costello, is a Fellow and a Board of Trustee member of the Academy of Orton Gillingham Educators and Practitioners.

Technology Support

Trident Academy is continually evolving.  In order to provide our students with the best educational opportunities available, our school offers instruction on assistive technology.  Your dollars are used to purchase Smart Boards, new computers, printers and a variety of educational tools used in the classroom.

ADDITIONAL WAYS OF GIVING:

Endowed Funds

Generous donors can create endowed funds to provide support for a specific school program in perpetuity.  The School invests the principal, and the income is used to provide the support.

Planned Giving

Planned giving is an easy way for donors to make a substantial gift to the school.  One easy way to accomplish this is by remembering Trident Academy in your will or trust.  In addition, there are many other ways to make a planned gift, often with tax benefits and possible lifetime income.  Contact the Trident Academy Development Office to schedule an appointment to discuss these options.

Stock Gifts

Donating appreciated stock is an excellent way to help Trident Academy and save on taxes.  Donors not only take an income tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift, but they also avoid the capital gains tax on the stock’s increased value.

Matching Gifts

Many companies sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees.  All you need to do is include your company’s matching gift form with your donation.  Be sure to check with your company to see if they have a matching gift program.
