Helping kids become readers is not just about opening a book; it’s about opening the right book—the book that gets them so excited to read they can’t put it down. Why is this important?
Because reading for fun has real and long-lasting benefits that can help your kids do better in school and in life. How can you motivate your child to read more? Here’s how:
- Be a good reading role-model. Let your kids see you read.
- Have a collection of books in the home. Update it often to keep up with your child’s changing tastes and reading skills.
- Shop our school’s Book Fair and allow your kids to choose their own books
Our Scholastic Buy One, Get One Free* Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into their school. Not only will your child be able to choose from a wonderful selection of titles before the summer vacation starts, they will be able to get one free book for every book they buy!
Please join us at our Book Fair and be a part of your child’s reading journey.
Book Fair dates: April 25 – April 29, 2016
Shopping hours: April 25 – 28: 8 am – 3 pm, April 29: 9:15 am – 12 noon
Special activities: Grandparents Day, April 29, 9:15 – 12 noon
Check the Book Fair website for dates, hours, events, updated goals, and to volunteer! Our website can be found at: http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/tridentacademy1
During the Fair we will start collecting spare change (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters) for a program called “All for Books!” in order to build our classroom libraries. To make it a little more fun, there will be a contest. One jar will be for the Carolina Gamecocks, another will be for Clemson Tigers, and another will be for the Georgia Bulldogs. Whichever team’s jar raises the most money will have bragging rights until the next Book Fair in the fall. Last Book Fair, the Clemson Tigers won. Will they keep the top spot or will the Carolina Gamecocks or Georgia Tigers raise more?
We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! For more information please contact, Whitney Lebron, firstname.lastname@example.org or 843-884-7046.
