Admissions

The School for Language-Based Learning Differences at Trident Academy welcomes all inquiries regarding admission for cognitively capable children diagnosed with dysgraphia, dyslexia, and dyscalculia entering grades K5-8. As a parent, you have a wealth of knowledge about your child’s abilities, frustrations, and academic experience – all of which we want to know. The application process at Trident Academy is designed to provide our Admissions Committee with a comprehensive view of your child. The stages outlined below can be viewed in the Application Flow Chart.

A psychological-educational evaluation will be required to help create a greater understanding of your child. This evaluation helps Trident Academy understand whether our environment can effectively provide your child with the knowledge and resources required to transition and thrive.

Should Trident Academy be the answer, you will be invited to tour the campus and to learn more about our approach to educating children. The application will require that you provide all academic records, a formal evaluation, and three letters of recommendation from your child’s teachers. Again, this information will provide a deeper understanding of your child as will the two day shadow experience.

The shadow experience provides your child the opportunity to shadow a peer student at Trident Academy for two consecutive days. This experience, combined with the information you’ve provided about your child, will shape our admissions committee’s consideration of your child’s acceptance. Trident Academy values each student’s gifts as an individual, regardless of socio-economic, racial, ethnic, and religious background. We seek students of average to above average intelligence who have a diagnosed language-based learning difference. Trident Academy is unable to meet the needs of students with emotional or behavioral issues that may negatively impact the learning environment.
