Parents and Educators are invited to register for a Writing Workshop being held at Trident Academy. Michael Gladstein, Ed.S., M.Ed. will present Executive Functioning: Hands-On Strategies to Improve Writing Achievement on June 8, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is hosted by the S.C. Branch International Dyslexia Association, Coastal Region.
“Executive Functioning involves activating, orchestrating, monitoring, evaluating and adapting different strategies to accomplish different tasks.”
This interactive presentation will explain the impact of executive functioning on student writing achievement. Research clearly indicates that written expression is an executive functioning task. Participants will understand how executive functioning skills directly correlate to writing achievement as well as how to develop the skills of self-questioning and whole-to-part analysis to consciously activate these executive functioning skills to build an elaborated and complete essay. Educators and parents will write an essay based on executive functioning research while learning and walk away with hands-on writing strategies to implement with students…immediately.
The cost of the daylong workshop is $45.00 (includes lunch). CPDU’s and CMH’s are available for an additional $10.00. Please register by May 20th.
