Trident Academy, a K-12 independent school for students with learning differences, will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. The school is located at 1455 Wakendaw Drive in Mt. Pleasant. The Open House is for parents who are interested in learning more about the school and how its services may benefit their child. Registration is required by April 16 to email@example.com.
The Open House will include short presentations about Trident Academy’s use of the Orton-Gillingham approach, daily Language Enrichment and Development sessions, Assistive Technology Lab, and a tour of the five-acre campus.
At the Open House, attendees will see sample lessons using the Orton-Gillingham approach. Trident Academy is one of just a handful of schools in the nation accredited by the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators (AOGPE). Attendees will also learn about Trident Academy’s daily one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions, called Language Enrichment and Development (LEAD). Trident Academy is the only school in the region that provides these intensive sessions daily. The Assistive Technology Lab will also be open during the Open House. Assistive technology is software and hardware that helps students compensate for challenges in learning and enables them to avoid the frustration that often accompanies those challenges
