Trident Academy students, faculty, and parents are challenging each other and the community to “Watch us Grow” during the 2012-13 year. On the first day back at school (August 20), students arrived to music and fun in the courtyard.
Each academic division (Lower School, Middle School and Upper School) worked together to plan and plant one of the flowerbeds in the school’s courtyard. Math Teacher Brenda Alvanos helped the students plan the beds by color, size, and space. The students used rulers to measure how large the plants would grow and to create appropriate spacing. Art also played a critical role as the students looked at the colors to ensure blending. They will also decorate watering cans in art class to be used for maintaining the beds.
Every single student “made their mark” on Trident Academy by putting their handprints in the foyer of the building. It signifies both the mark they will leave on Trident Academy and their preparation to make a mark on the world.
The fun culminated with a cookout provided by the Trident Academy Parents Association (TAPA).
The “Watch us Grow” theme will be woven into many classes this year and there may also be more gardening projects to come!
