We are delighted to welcome back to campus Debbie Yarnall, our newest LEAD teacher, and who also teaches Social Studies for 5th and 6th-8th grades. Debbie first taught at Trident Academy from 1996-1999, when she taught 3rd and 4th grades in addition to LEAD. Debbie states that she has wanted to be a teacher as long as she can remember and that her 3rd grade teacher was her greatest inspiration. “My favorite part of teaching is when my students experience success.”
Debbie goes on to say that, ” This is my 29th year in education. I have been a classroom teacher grades K-8, a college adjunct instructor, an instructional coach, a reading specialist, a coordinator for the Adult Basic Literacy Education program, and a special education teacher. My favorite position is teaching at Trident Academy because I am able to get to know my students individually and am able to teach creatively.”
With regard to her degrees and certifications, Debbie has her bachelors in elementary education from the College of Charleston, her masters in reading education from The Citadel, and certifications in elementary education, early childhood education, reading, and special education, plus National Board Certification in literacy. Her hobbies include long walks on the Battery or the beach, and cheering for her daughter and her teammates at their track meets.
We are thrilled to have Debbie with us once more as a dedicated member of our faculty.
