Who Do We Serve?

Student building with Legos in the MakerSpace

Trident Academy accepts students with a primary diagnosis of a language-based learning difference, such as dyslexia.

  • Most of our students have a diagnosis of dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia.

  • Although many of our students also have a secondary diagnosis of ADHD, a student will not be admitted with a diagnosis only of ADHD.

  • A student's cognitive ability must fall into the average to superior range, as measured as part of the student's psychoeducational evaluation by a licensed psychologist. The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V) is our preferred assessment of a student's cognitive ability. Trident's Orton-Gillingham-based program requires that our bright and capable students have the intellectual ability to successfully function in our curriculum.

  • Our school is not equipped to serve students for whom emotional and/or behavioral issues are the primary concern.
